Dissident artists are a healthy sign.

The term "dissident" artist or poet is in my experience generally reserved to describe individuals who challenge the political establishment or who are subject to curtailment of expression by the agencies of government in countries such as Iran, China, North Korea in other words a country which the UK or USA does not consider compliant with its policies.
There never appears any mention in the British press of home-grown dissident artists or poets presumably because our political and economic conditions are beyond reproach. We don't hear of any North American dissident artists or poets yet it seems inconceivable that none exist.
